Meluri, 20 March (MTNew): The Phokhungri Area Public Organization (PAPO) has vehemently condemned the heinous and barbaric act of double homicide committed by three persons on 12 March in the outskirts of Mokie Village under Meluri Sub-Division, Phek District, Nagaland.

PAPO in a statement on Monday alleged that the trio – Aho, Zükhomong and Puisang – “shot dead their own officer Brigadier Eleazar Whuchitu” of Mokie Village and his personal guard Shetshale of Old Thewati Village and left their bodies to rot. The deceased were FGN (NA) cadres reportedly.

The organization stated that the bodies were left unattended for about a week till they were discovered by family members and villagers of Mokie Village on 19 March.

“In an attempt to destroy evidence, they set fire to the dead body of Lt. Shetshale which was burnt beyond recognition,” the Organization added.

Calling it the first kind of such horrific crime committed in the land of PAPO, the organization asked every right thinking citizen to condemn the act.

“Such killings among Naga brothers is uncalled for when the Nagas have already accepted dialogue for a peaceful solution,” the organization said and appealed to the concerned authority to book the culprits and deliver justice at the earliest.

Further, the organization warned that any factions sheltering refuge or enrolling these perpetrators shall be doing so at their own risks and be treated as ‘claiming responsibility for this killing’ and said that they will initiate non-cooperation towards the party involved.

PAPO also stated that it shared the grief with their families, relatives and friends and prayed for their souls to rest in peace.

Pochury Hoho condemns

The Pochury Hoho on Monday condemned the killing of two of its sons and Naga national workers, the late Eleaser Thupitor of Mokie village and late Atshale of Old Thewati Village.
In a statement of condemnation, the Hoho stated that the former was beaten and shot dead while the latter was charred whose remains were retrieved on 19 March from the jungle by Mokie villagers.

“Despite various differences, when the Naga community is living in peace and harmony, such gruesome acts of killings are uncalled for and such acts of brutality is never acceptable,” the Pochury Hoho said.

Pochury Hoho stated that all right thinking citizens condemn the act and have demanded that the perpetrators must be booked and the law take its course of action.
It also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
