The launching program of the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign for Mokokchung district was held at GPS Arjuma, Mokokchung Village, Ongpangkong (North) Block today. The program included dedication of Shilaphalakam, felicitation of Veeron ka Vandan, Panch Pran Pledge with Mitti, hoisting of national flag and singing of national anthem, and ceremonial plantation of saplings.

As a part of this campaign, a Shilaphalakam or memorial plaque was installed and dedicated at the venue. A significant highlight of the event was the felicitation of Veeron ka Vandan, wherein Colonel Imliakum Keitzar of Mokokchung Village was honored with a certificate recognizing his contribution to the nation. Colonel Keitzar was previously conferred the Shaurya Chakra in 2019 when he held the rank of a Major. Although not present in person, the award was received by his parents on his behalf.

 

The event proceeded with the Panch Pran Pledge with Mitti. The pledge was led by Chumlamo Humtsoe, ADC Mokokchung. Following this, the hoisting of the national flag and singing of the national anthem took place, followed by the ceremonial planting of saplings.

 

A total of 75 saplings are scheduled for planting across 88 villages within the Mokokchung District, along with 4 towns and municipalities, as part of the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign.

 

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, expressed gratitude to the participants who came forward to be a part of the program. He underscored the significance of the occasion by highlighting the district’s legacy of producing brave hearts. The DC said that it was an honour to felicitate the heroes on the occasion.

 

The keynote address was delivered by Divisional Forest Officer, Dr Sentitula IFS, shedding light on the campaign’s environmental impact and its alignment with the larger Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, which began on 12 March 2021. A short speech was also delivered by Wapang Kichu, Village Council Chairman, Mokokchung Village.

 

The Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav that began on 12 March 2021 will culminate on 30th of this month. It has witnessed widespread public participation, with over two lakh programs organized across India.
