Indian Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development, Government of India, Faggan Singh Kulaste, visited Mokokchung district on February 14 and 15, 2024. Kulaste’s visit to Mokokchung marked the first time any minister from the Central government had visited the district headquarters in recent times.

This is particularly notable since the last visit by a central minister occurred in February 2019 when Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Zubin Irani, and Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, jointly inaugurated a Post Cocoon Technology Project at Sabangya, Chungtia village, Mokokchung, under the North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme (NERTPS) of the Ministry of Textile, Government of India.

On February 14 afternoon, Kulaste landed in Mokokchung, where he conducted a meeting with the Mokokchung District BJP. Later in the evening, he attended an ‘At Home’ reception at the DC’s Bungalow, Mokokchung, hosted by Minister of RD and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir.

On February 15 morning, Kulaste visited Mopungchuket village and the Impur Mission Center. Later in the day, he conducted a review meeting of Centrally Sponsored Schemes with district officials and had an interaction with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at the Rural Assembly Hall, Ungma village, after which he departed for Kohima.
