Addressing the 65th anniversary programme of the Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (SBAK) Nito Mount Youth Ministry Baghi Hoho at Zhekiye village, Aye credited the pioneers of the youth ministry for creating platforms that enabled successive generations of young people to develop socially and ethically.

While acknowledging the role of the church and community institutions, the minister cautioned that social challenges confronting today’s youth could not be addressed by institutions alone. He noted that Naga society was at a “critical crossroads” socially, politically and economically, and that young people were bearing the impact of these challenges.

Calling for unity within the Sümi community, Aye stressed that community institutions must act as bridges rather than points of division. He urged cooperation across villages and groups to build what he described as a more refined and stable society.

The minister emphasised the importance of professional integrity and contribution, stating that not everyone could occupy leadership or technical positions, but that dignity in all forms of work was essential. He encouraged youth to focus on their respective fields and contribute meaningfully to community development.

Aye also lauded the participation of SBAK Nito Mount Youth in the recent World Environment Day tree plantation drive along the national highway, describing such initiatives as necessary for long-term community rebuilding and environmental responsibility.

Urging young people to aspire for higher responsibilities, he encouraged them to compete for national-level services and positions, adding that broader representation would strengthen the community’s voice and influence.

Marking 65 years of the Youth Ministry, Aye said the milestone offered an opportunity to assess its contributions and outcomes, and to recalibrate future efforts toward social reform and development.

Concluding his address, the minister stressed that meaningful change within the Sümi community would require collective action rather than individual effort alone, and assured continued support for initiatives aimed at strengthening community institutions and youth participation.
