Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani, said that the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) implements various schemes for development and empowerment of women and for development of children across the country. These schemes are Anganwadi Services, One Stop Centre (OSC), Universalization of Women Helplines (WHL), Swadhar Greh, Ujjawala, Working Women Hostel, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), POSHAN Abhiyaan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), Child Protection Services, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) etc. Irani informed this in the floor of the Lok Sabha on Friday.
Further, Irani said that the Government has decided to launch ‘Mission Shakti’ – an integrated women empowerment program, as umbrella scheme for the safety, security and empowerment of women for implementation during the 15th Finance Commission Cycle. In addition to the initiatives of Ministry of Women and Child Development, she also said that various other Ministries /Departments of Government of India are implementing various schemes and programs for promoting education, including technical and higher education, skill development, digital literacy, scholarships, providing credit facilities, financial and digital inclusion etc for women and girls to make them self-reliant.
She also disclosed the details of funds allocated to the states and union territories under the various schemes. Funds allocated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to Nagaland have been reproduced by Mokokchung Times in public interest.
