Mission SOAR Nagaland has conducted a week-long orientation programme for its Lab Schools from March 9 to 13, 2026, aimed at preparing school leaders and teachers to implement the mission’s vision for school transformation.

The orientation brought together educators around a shared purpose and equipped them with the mindset, tools and support required to advance the objectives of Mission SOAR. The programme focused on building stronger teaching practices, values-based leadership and a culture of innovation within schools.
A key component of the programme was a one-day orientation for teachers of Mission SOAR Lab Schools held on March 10 at De Oriental Grand Hotel, Kohima. The sessions included an introduction to Mission SOAR, the interventions portal, school-level reflections, a values workshop, discussions on planned interventions, brainstorming on possible challenges and action planning.
Throughout the week, coaches from mission partner Shikha Institute worked closely with teachers and school leaders within the schools to support the implementation of innovative pedagogy and best-in-class school practices. Their engagement enabled educators to explore new ideas in the classroom context and begin adopting improved practices in their daily school routines.
Speaking on the initiative, Kevisato Sanyu, Founder of NagaEd and Director of Elevate Foundation, said, “Mission SOAR is grounded in the belief that every school can become a place of excellence when it is supported with vision, trust, and the right tools. This orientation was about preparing our Lab Schools not just to participate in change, but to lead it with courage, clarity, and commitment.”
Aluou Shuya, Vice Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Jotsoma, said the orientation helped clarify how to implement the mission’s interventions and reinforced the importance of collaborative work among teachers.
Anguno Khate, a Social Science teacher from Sovima Government High School, said the week-long orientation was intensive and enriching, adding that the sessions helped teachers better understand the purpose and implementation of the interventions and how they could strengthen teaching practices and student engagement.
Karishma Shanghvi, Director of Shikha Institute, said the effort during the week was to work closely with schools as they began the process of implementing Mission SOAR. She said the focus was on helping schools build strong foundations for high-quality and academically rigorous learning environments that are responsive to students’ needs.
With the orientation completed, the Lab Schools are expected to serve as demonstration spaces for innovation and improved teaching practices as Mission SOAR progresses in the state.
