A ‘Faith and Work’ initiative of the Alempang Baptist Church, in partnership with Canadian Baptist Ministries, MITA Ministry celebrated its 1st Foundation Day at MITA Office, Mokokchung, here on Saturday.
The acronym for MITA stands for ‘Meranga Inyaker Taküm Alitsü’ in Ao Naga, roughly translated as ‘self sustenance through hard work.’ It is an effort to alleviate unemployment problem and provide self-employment opportunities to the youth.
During the program, Limasashi, Chairman, Alempang Ward, asserted the importance of dignity of labour. “It is the philosophy that all types of job are respected equally,” he added.
Special guest for the day, Temsuchuba Jamir NCS, SDO (Civil), Mokokchung, while speaking at the program mentioned that MITA was a unique and interesting ministry.
He emphasized that every job was equally important and that there should be no differentiation between white, black or any other collar job. “The only thing is to be sincere towards the work,” he added.
Speaking in context of marketing, he said that the 2 years of pandemic have shown that our society is dependent on others for our living. “The world is a global village, marketing is very important,” he added.
As part of the foundation day celebration, an outlet for MITA products under the name “MITA Dokan”, located near Alempang Baptist Church, was inaugurated by Temsuchuba Jamir.

MITA ministry further plans to provide self-employment opportunities by launching “furniture and handicraft” and “poultry and piggery farming” projects in phase wise manner.
Ten youths of the church have been provided special assistance by the church, including financial assistance, mentoring, procuring of machines and work site. Food processing machines including grinders, mixer, juicer, pulping machine and freezers have been provided by the church. While the church has provided facility for two machine rooms, office, storage rooms and a product outlet room, the 10 beneficiaries will be responsible for running and managing the business. 
The current phase of food processing initiative includes manufacturing a variety of products like juices, pickles and spices made of naturally grown crops. Interested buyers can purchase the products through MITA outlet near Alempang Baptist Church, Aier Bakery, Pharmacy below MTBA Church, and Vegetable vendors around New Market area.
