Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), following the official launch of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024 on September 17, has been undertaking a number of Swachh initiatives on a daily basis. MMC conducted a door-to-door Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, visiting households to distribute pamphlets and educate citizens on the importance of waste segregation and management.
On September 18, MMC, in collaboration with educational institutions such as GHSS Mayangnokcha and Jubilee Memorial College, organized a cleanliness drive. Students actively participated in cleaning school surroundings and toilets, and also planted trees to mark the occasion.
It is noteworthy that the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024 is led by ADC & CEO of MMC, Chumlamo Humtsoe, as Team Captain and Aien Amri as Brand Ambassador. As part of its ongoing IEC campaign, MMC, led by the Brand Ambassador, is carrying out public awareness initiatives to make the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024 a plastic-free movement under the Mokokchung municipality.
To raise awareness about the ill-effects of littering in public spaces, the Mokokchung Bharat Scouts and Guides performed a street play at three different locations, concluding with a first aid demonstration at the MMC shopping complex on September 19, under the theme “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata.”
In line with the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign, MMC conducted random interactions with commuters and shopkeepers in the town on September 20 to further educate and sensitize the public.
Another initiative undertaken by MMC is the “Swachhata Night Food Stall Initiative.” In collaboration with ward sanitation committees and councilors, MMC visited street food vendors in Mokokchung town on September 20 to discuss hygiene, cleanliness, and proper waste management.
The Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2024 campaign is being conducted from September 17 to October 2, as a part of India’s ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness and hygiene in the country. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, this year’s theme, ”Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata”, aims to make cleanliness a natural habit and core societal value in each and every citizen of India. The campaign encourages public participation and highlights the important role of sanitation workers. It integrates various activities at the grassroots level, engaging citizens in keeping India clean.
