Reflecting on his journey, Alemyanger revealed personal challenges, including financial struggles such as being unable to pay rent for three months. “I am that person who can’t pay 12,000 rent and is still contesting in this election,” said Alemyanger, asserting his candidacy as a testament to his dedication to address systemic issues and bring about meaningful change.

“I have been involved in politics for 31 years, and there are changes that still need to be made,” Alemyanger remarked, stressing the need for a shift away from monetary influences in politics towards wisdom and integrity.

He criticized the influence of money in politics, advocating instead for wisdom and collective action to drive meaningful change. “My motto ‘with a change, for a change’ reflects my dedication to break free from empty promises and initiate real development,” Alemyanger declared passionately.

“How long are we going to talk about the change or that the change that is about to come? How long are we going to blame one another?” he asked.

Addressing the challenging prevailing norms in local politics, he said, “We have become slaves for money. It is happening in front of our eyes and we can even say that it is wrong.”

“Even though I’m poor, I’m honest and I have a pure intention. There are 18 wards in Mokokchung town, and I want to bring the spirit of “I love Mokokchung”,” he said.

Asserting his aspiration to instill a sense of civic pride and responsibility, Alemyanger expressed his devotion to making Mokokchung Town a smart town. “This isn’t just an election promise,” he declared emphatically.

“Whether I win or lose, my goal is to sow the seeds for Mokokchung’s transformation.”

Alemyanger painted a vivid picture of his vision for a smart town, envisioning improved infrastructure including cleaner streets, better footpaths, and enhanced green spaces such as parks and playgrounds. He linked these improvements directly to current challenges facing Mokokchung, including traffic congestion, sanitation issues, and inadequate healthcare facilities.

“This isn’t about me winning an election; it’s about planting the idea of a smart town in everyone’s minds,” Alemyanger affirmed, urging voters to consider the long-term benefits of embracing progressive change.

He called upon residents to seize the opportunity to shape their future, emphasizing the democratic nature of his campaign and inviting public scrutiny and discussion of his proposals.

Alemyanger’s candidacy represents a departure from traditional political rhetoric, advocating for transparency, community involvement, and sustainable development. His platform resonates with a desire for ethical governance and a renewed focus on addressing pressing local issues.
