The charm of a painting is that it portrays a notion that, paradoxically, makes the viewer feel more at peace in the world. It offers an experience that is akin to life. Whether the painting is entirely original or influenced by the work of others, it represents a concept, an emotion, or a different way of looking at the world. Today, Mokokchung Times would like to feature a brilliant painter by the name of Moasenla Amri.

Moasenla Amri

From a very young age, she had a passion for art and started honing her creative skills in her early teenage years. She was born in Khar village and now lives in Alempang ward, Mokokchung. She is currently pursuing a BA at KROS College in Kohima. She started using crayons for sketching when she was very young (grade 1) and eventually moved on to utilizing paintbrushes.

Asen said, “I usually favour the night for my artistic endeavours because I believe that when the world is peaceful, more thoughts and inspiration come to me. I adore a few prominent Renaissance artists, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt.”

She noted that in addition to painting, she also likes playing badminton, collecting plants, and doing crafts. She explained that since she is still in school, she only accepts commissions for simple portraits. She does, however, say that she plans to spend more time on “masterpieces” after she graduates.

When asked where she finds her inspiration for her paintings, Asen responded that she finds inspiration from anything that strikes her attention, such as a dream of something mysterious and out of the ordinary.

She explained how people perceive art influences its importance in society. She continued, “Our Naga society values art (partially), but I think art can play a significant role in preserving our Naga history and traditions, just like other platforms do.” She also cited examples from European culture to show how they valued art as one of life’s most sophisticated and significant components.

Knowing that Moasen, a young woman, can paint anything without guidelines is incredibly inspiring. She counselled the budding artists to remain true to themselves, ask God for “art wisdom,” and continue producing art in whatever circumstance. Despite the fact that she does not yet have clients, she is ready to work on a great deal of interacting with people’s ideas in the approaching days.

Moasen’s message:
Young and old alike do not stay idle. Be positively ambitious, be practical, and keep learning because nothing is ever too late. Above all, have FAITH in God.
