Moatoshi Longkumer assumes chairmanship of Dimapur DPDB, calls for united efforts to drive district progress

Moatoshi Longkumer, Advisor for Youth Employment & Skill Development and Excise, Nagaland, officially assumed charge as Chairman of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Dimapur, during the monthly meeting held on May 26, 2025, at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall.

In his address, Moatoshi congratulated the newly inducted board members and called for unity among all officers to turn Dimapur into a model district. “Let us work hand in hand so that other districts envy Dimapur,” he stated, stressing the importance of collaboration and efficient implementation of development plans.

He emphasized the need to channel proposals—such as the urgent request for an emergency rescue vehicle—properly to the State Government via the Planning Board to ensure timely action.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, shared updates on pending matters, including the administrative headquarters proposal for East Dimapur, which was delayed due to officer transitions.

The meeting approved all pending society registration applications. A significant presentation by Er. Lhuvoyi, EE (Power), Department of Power, covered progress under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), aiming to reduce AT&C losses to 12–15% by March 2026 and close the ACS-ARR gap.

As part of this effort, smart prepaid metering and loss reduction measures are being deployed. Under the State Action Plan for Smart Consumer Interface (SASCI), 18,000 smart meters have been sanctioned for Kohima, Dimapur, and Chümoukedima for 2021–22 and 2022–23.

The department also highlighted the “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana”, launched in February 2024, which promotes rooftop solar adoption. Of Nagaland’s 32.8 MW residential RTS target, 8.337 MW is allocated for Dimapur.
Smart meters are expected to enhance energy efficiency, offer flexible tariffs, and improve service. The Department of Power urged public support to ensure successful implementation.

The next DPDB meeting will feature presentations from the PWD (R&B) and Fisheries Departments.
