Kohima, 1 May (MTNews): Advisor for Information & Public Relations, and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen, hosted the Moatsü Festival Celebrations in Kohima on 1 May. The event was organized by the Mangmetong Senso Telongjem Kohima.

Addressing the gathering at the Moatsü Celebrations, Advisor Imkong L Imchen emphasized the rich cultural heritage of the Naga tribal society, noting that while many rituals and beliefs have diminished over time, it remains crucial to preserve and celebrate our cultural identity. He highlighted the importance of showcasing diverse Naga cultures, particularly in a city like Kohima, where multiple tribes coexist harmoniously. Imchen stressed that it is the responsibility of every Naga to uphold and safeguard their cultural heritage for future generations.

Advisor for Law & Justice, and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, speaking on behalf of the Ao Legislators, expressed gratitude to the Mangmetong Senso Telongjem Kohima and co-legislator Imkong L Imchen for organizing the Moatsü Celebrations. He also said festivals are the bedrock of Naga culture and traditions. Mannen also emphasized that the celebration of festivals is a social necessity and urged everyone to strive towards unity and lead disciplined lives, just as our ancestors did.

The Moatsü Celebrations featured traditional songs and dances performed by various groups, culminating in a traditional Moatsü feast. N Meren, President of Mangmetong Senso Telongjem Kohima, welcomed guests and officially inaugurated the event, while Er Imnameren Imchen delivered the vote of thanks.

CM Rio greets Ao Nagas

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has extended his wishes to the Ao community on the occasion of the Moatsü festival, which marks the end of the sowing season. Rio expressed his hope that the festival strengthens the bonds of unity and brotherhood, while also bringing blessings for a bountiful harvest.
