Mock Drill on earthquake held in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, February 21 (MTNews): In order to review the emergency preparedness plan and to evaluate the response or reaction time to a disaster, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Mokokchung, under the aegis of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), conducted a Mock Drill simulating earthquake with a magnitude of 8.5 at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School on February 21.

During the drill, it was presumed that the building had collapsed and fire broke out causing severe injuries in students. The drill began with the principal informing the Responsible Officer (RO), Deputy Commissioner, followed by activities such as drop, hold and covers and executed the evacuation plan.

The Incident Response Team (IRT), including personnels from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), responded with prompt action and immediately reached the incident site with all the available resources.

The mock drill was conducted under Dy. Commandant, Abinav of NDRF 12 BN and District Commandant, HG, CD, Mulai Lam, SDRF.
