Model Christian College, Kohima, organized a student development program on October 19 at the college auditorium, focusing on ‘Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Health.’ The session was led by Dr. Bilva Yalie, Medical Officer at UPHC Seikhazou and State Master Trainer for Adolescent Health.
The program was divided into sections, each addressing a specific aspect of health, followed by a Q&A session. In the first part, Dr. Bilva emphasized the importance of physical health, advising students to adopt a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition and regular physical activity. She discussed the key factors affecting nutrition, signs of malnutrition, and the five risk factors for non-communicable diseases.
The second part focused on mental health, where Dr. Bilva addressed common mental health issues and recommended healthy habits to manage them. She highlighted disorders such as eating disorders, learning disorders, and substance abuse.
Substance abuse was the focus of the third section, where she explained the factors that increase and protect adolescents from such risks.
The final segment addressed internet and media usage, with Dr. Bilva urging students to stay vigilant against cybercrime and bullying, stressing the importance of online safety for young adults.
