The Women’s Cell of Model Christian College, Kohima, organized a program to celebrate the International Women’s Day on the 8th of March, 2022 at the college auditorium. Along with the rest of the world, the program was held under the theme, ‘’Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.’
Veduvolu Khusoh, Entrepreneur, Proprietor of Glam House Boutique, was the special guest for the event. Veduvolu Khusoh shared her life experiences about how she initially as a fresh graduate ventured into different countries and finally started her own business in a foreign country. She encouraged the young to be courageous and determined. Addressing gender equality, she said that gender equality does not mean women are superior to men but rather it is a movement that desires equal treatment. She talked about society’s biasness in pressuring women and made a call to stop stereotypical blames on women. She also mentioned that leadership and competence have no gender and expressed her desire to see a fifty percent women representation in all important spheres.
The program was chaired by Niloli Wotsa of BA 4th Semester, welcome note was delivered by the coordinator of the Women’s Cell, Thethem Hansing, assistant professor, English Department and vote of thanks by Kitokali Khala, Women Coordinator of the cell.
