The 2nd Intensive Free Boxing Camp organised by the Boxing Association Mokokchung (BAM) got underway on  Tuesday at P Shilu Ao Park, Imkongmeren Sports Complex with professional boxing Coach from DYSR and NABA Vice-President Lakatsu Chophy as the Head Coach to conduct the whole camp.

The coaching camp is being conducted in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sports (DYRS) and the Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association (NABA).

The BAM president, Lanuakum Imsong, speaking at a short program before the start of the camp, encouraged the young participants to be confident and keep their visions set to excel in the sport.

He said that the Boxing Association Mokokchung (BAM) would always be there for the young aspiring boxers – to help them achieve excellence, promote and open avenues for pursuing their dreams – as they would eventually move out from Mokokchung to compete in the state, national and international levels.

The Head Coach of the camp, Lakatsu Chophy, who is one of the most experienced boxers in the state, expressed his satisfaction on seeing the enthusiastic young boxers who have registered for the boxing camp.

The Associate Pastor (Child Ministry) of Kumlong Baptist Church, Moanaro Imchen invoked God’s blessing and guidance for the whole camp.

Meanwhile, the BAM has extended the registration for the camp till Wednesday, 12 October, 2023. Registration timing is from 3:00 p.m. The coaching starts from 5:00 p.m. It was earlier announced that the coaching camp would be targeting youngsters aged 9 to 14, regardless of gender.  This camp is scheduled to run from 10 to 24 October.

The BAM encourage all boxing aspirants, who meet the criteria, to register for this boxing camp stating that those who have the aptitude and talent would be shortlisted for furthering their career in boxing.
