The Women Police Station, Mokokchung, has registered a case following a complaint alleging sexual assault of a minor girl aged 7 years and 11 months. Police confirmed that the accused, a 65-year-old man, was arrested on the morning of August 31 and is currently in custody.
According to the FIR filed by the victim’s parent, on August 30, the child and her younger brother were allegedly taken to the residence of the accused at Majakong Ward, Mokokchung, on the pretext of being given money. The complaint stated that the accused asked the younger brother to wait outside while he took the girl inside, where the alleged incident occurred.
The FIR further alleged that the minor later disclosed such incidents had taken place “several times before as well.” The parent also stated that the repeated assaults have caused “deep psychological trauma” to the child, who frequently wakes up crying at night and at times remains withdrawn.
Police informed that the case has been registered under section 4/8 POCSO Act and that the matter has been taken up for thorough investigation.
