The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) organized the fifth edition of ‘We Care’ concert on 12 December at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung in aid of free coaching class corpus fund. Nagaland Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir was the chief host at the event.

Metsubo Jamir in his speech lauded the AKM for organizing the event. Drawing focus on the problem of unemployment in Nagaland, Jamir said that education should not be job-oriented but focused more on skill development. He further encouraged the students not to focus only on government jobs but to hone one’s skills and try to generate income through such skills. While saying that around 8% of the state’s population was “educated unemployed,” Jamir also enunciated the importance of education in praxis.

A strong lineup of artists performed on the night including Hailinator, Tiameren Aier, Chubatsur Jamir, Tiaren Lusang, Akumsen Lemtur, Sunep Lemtur and Lenen Jamir. Dreamz Unlimited also made a special appearance at the concert.

Earlier in the program, AKM president Mr Lanutoshi Aier delivered the introductory speech while invocation was pronounced by Mr Monglier, Associate Pastor, MTBA.

AKM we care concert

It may be mentioned that the first edition of AKM ‘We Care’ concert was held in 2005 in aid of flood and landslide victims of Mokokchung district under the leadership of former President Mr. Aodangnok. The second edition was held in 2009 in aid of free coaching classes for board examinees under the leadership of former president S Bendang Aier while the third edition was held in 2011 under the leadership of N Akok Longkumer, former president, AKM in aid of the revival of Ao Milen, the vernacular daily published by AKM.

Further in 2017, the 4th edition of ‘We Care’ was held in aid of Mokokchung Law College under the leadership of former AKM president Mr Jemti Longchar.
