Mokokchung Athletics, in collaboration with MY Bharat, organized the My Bharat–ASMITA Fit India sporting event at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on March 7 in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026.
The event was held under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports through the Sports Authority of India and MY Bharat as part of the ‘Sports for Women’ initiative ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action). Young women and girls participated in athletics competitions including track and field events.
Project Director of District Rural Development Agency Mokokchung, Imyapangla, attended the opening program as the special invitee while the closing program was attended by Vice President of Mokokchung District Sports Council, Martoshi Jamir, who presented certificates to the winners.
Participants competed in three age categories: Under 13, 13 to 18 years and above 18 years. Track events included the 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres, while field events featured shot put and long jump.
Winners received medals and certificates during the closing ceremony. Organizers expressed hope that more women and girls would participate in future events.
