The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Kobulong Block, Mokokchung, conducted two capacity-building programs at Longjang village on June 4, 2025, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of farmers in soil health management and poultry care.

Resource person Temjenmongla, Soil Conservation Assistant from the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Mokokchung, focused on “Soil Health Cards for Better Crop Productivity.” She emphasized the importance of soil testing, nutrient management, and the effective use of Soil Health Cards. She explained that these cards help farmers understand the quality and type of their soil, enabling informed decisions on crop planning and fertilizer use. She further underlined the importance of collecting truly representative soil samples, noting that laboratory analysis is based on only a tiny fraction of the field’s soil. The session also covered the application of agricultural lime and the use of micro and macro nutrients. Hands-on training on soil sampling procedures was conducted, and agricultural lime was distributed to all participating farmers.
