Mokokchung, December 5 (MTNews): The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) will be organizing the much anticipated annual Inter-Ward Christmas Cake Race for this year on December 24. In this regard, the ADC and Administrator of MMC, Chumlamo Humtsoe, has on Monday informed that the event would be held at the main police point from 7:00 AM onwards.
Further, the MMC has requested all the wards under its jurisdiction to actively participate in the Cake Race with a spirit of joy and peace.
The MMC also issued a set of guidelines for the event. The race, according to the guidelines, is open only for bona-fide residents of the respective wards of Mokokchung Municipality.
It was also informed that every participating team shall comprise two girls and nine boys i.e. a total of 11 runners. “Point 1 and 2 runners shall be female participants only,” it was instructed.
The name list of the participants duly signed by the ward authority in the format that has been provided must be submitted latest by December 20 to the Senior Inspector MMC, it said. All the participants have also been asked to report at the Main Police Point by 6:30 A.M.
It was also informed that “Military/Uniform Personnel” shall be debarred from participating in the race and that “crossing of lanes by the receiving partners, wherever marked or specified, and throwing of batons will be disqualified.” Chest numbers shall be determined by draw-of-lot, it also said.
Certificates with cakes shall be awarded to the first, second and third place winners as well as cakes to all the participating teams as consolation prizes, it was informed. “In case of any dispute, the decision of the organizer shall be final,” it said.
