Mokokchung district has won the 13th edition of the Nagaland Veteran Inter-District Football Tournament, defeating Kohima district 1-0 in the final match. The four-day tournament began on February 10, 2026, at the Old Showuba Village local ground in Niuland district, with MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu gracing the opening ceremony.
The inter-district tournament was hosted by the Nagaland Veteran Football Association with the theme “Kick in Football, Kick Out Ism.” Ten teams representing ten districts took part in the competition. With this victory, Mokokchung district has clinched the championship for the ninth time in the tournament’s history.
Earlier, Wokha district defeated Zunheboto district to secure third place, while Zunheboto finished fourth.
Delivering the closing remarks, NVFA President Anthony Ngullie thanked the players for their sportsmanship and acknowledged the organisers for the smooth conduct of the event. He later handed over the tournament trophy and medals to the winning and participating teams.
