Mokokchung, November 4 (MTNews): Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE) organized a Two-Day Workshop on 1st & 2nd November 2022 under the theme “Rejuvenating Fitness for Healthy Living” with Avisa Chase, Aerobics Fitness Instructor, Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor, Certified DIET & Nutrition Counselor, Certified First Aider, Physical Education Teacher (Department of School Education) as the Resource Person.
The first day featured four sessions: Physical Fitness and Exercise Benefits, Diet and Nutrition, First Aid and Fitness Session. The resource person delivered an in-depth presentation on the importance of physical fitness and exercise. Chase advocated for comparing oneself to oneself rather than others, stating, “It is not about being the best; it is about being better than you were yesterday.”
He also emphasised the importance of diet and nutrition, as well as the importance of maintaining a balanced diet for healthy living, saying, “Eat your food like medicine.”
The session also included a hands-on demonstration of the importance of first aid for fainting, nose bleed, sprain, and CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation). The resource person briefed the participants on the importance of staying fit during the fitness session.
The second day featured a detailed theory presentation on various athletics games such as 100m, 200m, 4×100 relay race, shot put, discus throw, high jump, and long jump, followed by field practise.
The workshop concluded with workshop reflections from Toshi Imchen of the third semester and Tsachumse H Sangtam of the first semester, as well as a ‘Zumba dance’ session with the faculty and student teachers.
