The Court of Victo Sema, NJS, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mokokchung, has convicted Imjunglemla in connection with the 2019 Mekuli Village case where two children, aged 3 and 1, were killed by their mother.
In the judgment passed on August 28, 2025, the accused was found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder (causing death without the intention to murder but with the knowledge that it is likely to cause death) under Section 304 Part-I of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and of attempt to commit suicide under Section 309 IPC.
She was sentenced to 10 years of simple imprisonment for culpable homicide and 1 year of simple imprisonment for attempt to commit suicide. The court ordered that both sentences will run concurrently (served at the same time).
The case dates back to 2019, when Imjunglemla killed her two children before attempting to take her own life in Mekuli Village.
