The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has issued a travel advisory cautioning the public against travelling through Jorhat district of Assam due to the prevailing situation and the ongoing blockade of the National Highway.
The advisory, released on Monday, urged commuters from Mokokchung district and those intending to travel to the district to avoid routes passing through Jorhat until the situation normalises.
“This travel advisory is issued to avoid any inconveniences to the commuters and in the interest of public safety,” the notice stated.
Naga students from Kaziranga University safely evacuated to Dimapur
Meanwhile, a total of 370 Naga students studying at Kaziranga University, Assam, were brought safely to Dimapur early Monday morning, SP Mokokchung informed.
Escorted by Dimapur and Mokokchung police, the students reached the Dimapur Circuit House at around 4:45 a.m. All of them are reported to be in good health.
Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma, confirmed their safe arrival and expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended during the process. “Assam Government and Assam Police were very helpful . Thank you,” he shared.
