The Dilong Youth Association (DYA), Mokokchung, is set to celebrate its silver jubilee on August 2 at the Dilong Community Hall, with Dr. Sashila Aier as the main speaker.

Leading up to the event, DYA has undertaken a series of initiatives to mark the occasion. On July 26, the Association launched a tree adoption program, during which 25 saplings were sponsored by Imkongchuba A, Chairperson of Mokokchung Municipal Council, and adopted by 25 families in Dilong Ward. Each family took responsibility for a tree, symbolizing the Association’s 25 years of service while promoting environmental stewardship.

On July 28, the Association visited senior citizens in the ward aged 80 and above, presenting each with a blanket. The blankets were sponsored by Menangmeren, Joint Director of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Dimapur, and his family, as a gesture of care and community solidarity.

Lanuakum Imsong, President of DYA, expressed appreciation to all the sponsors and participating families. He said the tree adoption program reinforces their commitment to building a greener and more sustainable ward, while the visit to the elderly serves as a reminder to stay rooted in compassion and community care.

Earlier, on June 5, DYA began its silver jubilee observance with a tree plantation drive. Notably, the Association has chosen not to invite a chief guest for the celebration, breaking from convention to mark the milestone in a more community-focused manner.
