The Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) successfully conducted a training program on the new criminal laws for the Prisons and Correctional Staff of the Prison Department, Mokokchung, at the District Court on May 24. The District Police Force also joined the program to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the legal reforms.


The training focused on the newly enacted criminal laws, namely the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), with the objective of ensuring a smooth transition and effective implementation of these laws in prison administration and legal procedures.

The training was conducted under the supervision of  Julian Sitlhou, Secretary, DLSA cum Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mokokchung. Key topics covered included an overview of the new laws, highlighting significant changes from the previous legal framework and procedural reforms affecting arrest, bail, investigation, and trial processes. An interactive discussion was also held to address practical challenges and clarify doubts raised by the participants.
