Mokokchung, 20 May (MTNews): The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting held today at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung deliberated on various issues including the scarcity of water in the town.

According to the board, the problem of water scarcity cannot be solved by the concerned department alone and, therefore, decided that different steps should be taken to address the problem such as  awareness and sensitizing of the people on water management and also meeting of all the line departments to discuss the issue and to initiate activities on rejuvenation of spring water etc.

 

In this regard, the DPDB Chairman, Advisor Tongpang Ozukum requested the Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman, DPDB Mokokchung to convene a meeting of all the line departments.

 

The House also discussed the non-assignment of Urban Development Officer in the district which hampers in carrying out of many development activities in the district and decided to approach the concerned department for appointment/deployment of Urban Development Officer to Mokokchung at the earliest.

 

The Board recommended the registration of a new society – Green Hills Research and Development, Ungma village – and grant-in-aid for the following private schools: Mission School Changki, Straightway Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung and Town higher Secondary School, Mokokchung. Proposal for construction of Tourist Amenity Centre at Yimchalu Village, Mokokchung under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) was also approved in the meeting.

 

PowerPoint presentation on Elder Line, Nagaland was given by the Program Manager and Detailed Report on Livelihood Project initiated under Common Pool during LADP 2021-2022 was given by the committee. Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan, Mokokchung was also launched during the meeting.

 

The Board also reviewed the last meeting minutes on Status Report on repair of District Hospital Road (IMDH), Mokokchung and shifting of NST Bus Station and Office to ISBT Yimyu.

 

The DPDB meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Advisor, Water Resources & Chairman DPDB, Mokokchung, Tongpang Ozukum. Advisor, IPR, Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen; Advisor, Law & Justice, Land Revenue, T N Mannen; Advisor, Fishery & Aquatic Resources, A Pangjung Jamir; Advisor, Minority Affairs & Sericulture, Imkongmar; and Advisor, Transport & Technical Education, Temjenmenba also attended the meeting.

 

Welcoming all the legislators and members of the DPDB, the Chairman also mentioned his thankfulness to the district Administration, Police, Heads of Offices and the Civil Society Organizations for their collective effort in successfully conducting and maintaining a peaceful environment during the recently concluded General Election.
