Mokokchung, 19 September (MTNews): The meeting of the Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) for September took place today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung. The meeting was chaired by Advisor Water Resources and DPDB Chairman Tongpang Ozukum.

During the meeting, the board reviewed the minutes of the previous session, which included discussions on hosting a civic reception for the Chief Minister of Nagaland and the relocation of the NST office to ISBT Yimyu. The board made several decisions, including proposing the designation of Mokokchung Law College as a government-aided college, applying for a change of nomenclature for Mangkusong Government Primary School Ungma to Sademmeren Government Primary School, Ungma, and submitting applications for the registration of new societies, namely Sungratsu Army Association, Sungratsu Village, and Likum Welfare Society, Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung. Additionally, they submitted an application for the recognition of Moria Mission Jubilee School, Longsa.

 

During the session, the Chief Medical Officer and District Agriculture Office provided updates on their respective departmental activities. The members of the board also engaged in discussions regarding various departmental issues. Chairman Tongpang Ozukum raised awareness among the members about the rising issue of substance abuse in the state, highlighting it as a significant social concern.

 

For the next DPDB meeting, the departments of PWD (Road & Bridges) and Fisheries were tasked with presenting their departmental activities.
