The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Mokokchung (ENPUM) today released its revised constitution during the 52nd Executive Session held at the ENPUM Treasurer’s residence in Mokokchung. The new constitution introduces two significant rules: prohibiting any individual from fundraising or establishing societies using the ‘Eastern Nagaland’ name, and mandating that all Eastern Nagaland residents in Mokokchung must adhere to the new constitution’s guidelines.
These rules were highlighted by ENPUM General Secretary Nohochem Sangtam, who stated that the new constitution will build stronger connections among the Eastern Naga family.
The revised constitution was officially released by Eastern Nagaland Churches Fellowship (ENCF) President Henlei Phom of Phom Baptist Church Mokokchung, who dedicated the occasion with a prayer. The event was attended by ENPUM officials, representatives of the six federating tribal unions, as well as ENSUM (Eastern Nagaland Students Union Mokokchung) and ENWOM (Eastern Nagaland Women Organization Mokokchung).
ENPUM president Y Among Yim and General Secretary Nohochem Sangtam highlighted the broader objectives of the new constitution, including modernization, improved governance, and enhanced inclusivity for all tribal communities of Eastern Nagaland. The document aims to strengthen cultural identity and address emerging challenges while promoting unity and collaboration within the community, they said.
