A man has been taken into custody in Mokokchung district in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor, police confirmed on Tuesday.
Officials stated that the case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). The accused, who is reportedly the child’s father, is currently in police custody.
Police declined to share further details, citing legal restrictions protecting the identity and privacy of the minor.
Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing.
