The “Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya, Nagaland” Project (FBMP), co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW (German Development Bank), is being implemented under the Mokokchung Forest Division and under the Batch-2 villages, which include Unger, Changtongya Old, Akhoya, and Nukshiyim.
The objectives of the project include promotion of sustainable and effective management of forests and biodiversity in Nagaland, supporting improved connectivity and conservation of biodiversity, creating and enhancing livelihood opportunities for dependent communities, and putting in place incentive mechanisms rewarding communities for effectively protecting and maintaining their Community Conserved Areas, stated Dr. Sentitula, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Mokokchung.
The Mokokchung Forest Division successfully organized a one-day training program on Record Keeping/Accounting and the Community Conserved Areas (CCA) Management Plan, Changtongya Beat, on 20th August 2025 at the Forest Office, Marepkong.
The program aimed to enhance the capacity of community members in maintaining proper accounts and strengthen the implementation of the CCA Management Plan. Participants received practical guidance on bookkeeping methods, accountability practices, and the importance of transparent financial management in community institutions.
Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Moamongba spoke on the importance of effective record keeping, a better understanding of the CCA Management Plan, and how this training would contribute to improved transparency and accountability.
The technical sessions were led by Lipokinla Pongen (FcOM) and Temsuwapang (Account Asst., JICA), who served as resource persons. They delivered practical guidance on accounting procedures, maintaining financial records, and preparing reports, providing examples relevant to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and CCAs.
A total of 25 members attended the training, including members of CCAs and SHGs, who actively participated in interactive sessions and practical demonstrations.
