CLEANLINESS, THE FIRST STEP TO DISCIPLINED LIFE: BAM officials and participants cleaning the Multipurpose Sports Complex as part of the ongoing free boxing coaching camp on Saturday, 22 July.

The initiative aimed to instill the value of discipline among the young participants, as Bendangtemsu Ozukum, the General Secretary of BAM, pointed out. “Boxing, or any other sports for that matter, is all about discipline, and the first step towards leading a disciplined life is through cleanliness,” he said.

Around forty volunteers from the senior category (age 13-16 group) out of the 161 registered participants actively participated in the cleanliness drive. The young boxers dedicated two hours to thoroughly clean both the interior and exterior surroundings of the sports complex before commencing their daily coaching routine.

The BAM President Lanuakum Imsong, while appreciating the volunteers and the BAM officials, said that the social work was also a means to show the association’s gratitude to the administration for allotting the stadium for the coaching camp. He also added that it was a means of teaching the young children the importance of maintaining public property.

“This is our stadium and we are thankful to the administration for allotting us to use it for the whole camp. It is only proper for us to keep it clean as a courtesy to our town,” said Lanuakum.
