Revenant FC has successfully defended their title as season 2 of the Mokokchung Friday League culminated here today at the Assam Rifles Ground. Played under the theme ‘35 & Kicking’, the league commenced earlier this year on September 30.
During a brief closing ceremony, Lipok, the Tournament Convener and Tiakumzuk, Technical Convener gave brief remarks while Yanglo Pongen, Associate Pastor, MTBA delivered a prayer for the league.
The champions Revenant FC were awarded the trophy, citations and cash prize of Rs.20,000 and runners up Senso Sporting Club were presented with citations and cash prize of Rs.10,000 while individual prizes were presented to Imnanukshi from New Ecclesia for Best Defender, Chuba Nokdir from Wasang FC for Best Goalkeeper, Rongsenchiba from Revenant FC for Highest Goal Scorer with 19 goals and Tsüpongtsuba from Senso Sporting Club for the Player of the League title.
The last three matches of Game week 10 saw Revenant FC, Senso Sporting Club and New Ecclesia register wins against Terokroker FC, Aturar FC and Wasang FC respectively.
The first match of the day saw Revenant FC come out victorious against Terokroker FC as Rongsenchiba went on to score four goals for his side at the 3rd, 26th, 27th and 30th minutes of the game securing a comfortable position for the team despite Terokroker’s Supong and Mashin scoring in the 12th and 23rd minutes, thereby ending the match with a score line of 4-2.
The second match between Senso SC and Aturar FC witnessed the latter break the ice with the help of Imrongtozung through an assist by Imnaakum in the 12th minute of the game. However, the lead was short lived as Senso’s Alemchuba scored an equalizer just five minutes later. Senso’s Tsupong in the 47th minute of the game went on to score the winner as the match ended with a score line of 2-1.
The third and final match of the day was won by New Ecclesia against Wasang FC with a scoreline of 1-0 as Arishilu through a lofted shot managed to score the lone goal of the match in the 22nd minute.
