Teams representing 12 districts of Nagaland will be converging in Mokokchung for the 26th Nagaland Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2023, scheduled to be held from the 23rd to the 26th of October at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung.

This premier table tennis event will be hosted by the Mokokchung District Table Tennis Association (MDTTA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Table Tennis Association (NTTA).

In a press conference held on Thursday at Nine-Ten Restro in Mokokchung, officials from the MDTTA and the organizing committee provided key details about the upcoming championship.

Aosunep Ozükum, the Convener of the organizing committee, announced that a contingent of over 110 players is expected to participate in the championship, representing 12 districts in the team event, while as many as 50 players are anticipated to compete in the open category.

Notably, the twelve districts that have confirmed their participation in this championship, in addition to the host district, Mokokchung, include Longleng, Mon, Kiphire, Phek, Shamator, Zunheboto, Wokha, Kohima, Dimapur, Niuland, and Chumoukedima.

The championship’s opening ceremony is scheduled for the 23rd of October at 4 PM, with Imkong L Imchen, MLA & Advisor, Govt. of Nagaland, serving as the Chief Patron.

Ozukum also revealed another highlight of the event will be the release of a coffee table book by the president of NTTA.

It was also informed that the Nagaland Table Tennis Association will provide Trophies, Cash Prizes, and Certificates to the winners.

Ali Walling, the President of MDTTA, shared that the tournament will feature both Inter-District team events encompassing male and female categories and a state open event, including singles and doubles competitions across various categories, categorized by age groups. These categories comprise Men’s Singles and Doubles, Women’s Singles and Doubles, Youth Boys and Girls (Under 19) Singles and Doubles, Junior Boys and Girls (Under 17) Singles and Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Sub-Junior Boys and Girls (Under 13) (Only Singles), Veterans 40 Singles and Doubles, and Veteran 50+ (Only Singles).

The 26th Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2023 promises to be an exciting and competitive event, and the organizers have invited the citizens of Mokokchung and nearby areas to be part of the event.
