Mokokchung holds orientation training on leprosy

The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Mokokchung, conducted an orientation training on Leprosy for health workers under the National Leprosy Eradication Program (NLEP) at the CMO Conference Hall on 18 September 2025.


During the training, Dr R Toshimenla Jamir highlighted that the National Strategic Plan (NSP) aims to eradicate leprosy by 2027. She emphasized the pivotal role of ASHAs as the backbone of the health system, urging them to willingly coordinate, participate, and work for the community by supporting the department. Dr. Jamir further instructed ASHAs to promptly report any suspected leprosy cases to the CHO or health workers at their respective health units.

The orientation covered various aspects of leprosy, including its signs and symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, multi-drug therapy, stigma associated with the disease, and the strategic plan for achieving the goal of zero leprosy by 2027.

The resource persons for the training were Dr R Toshimenla Jamir, DPO CD II/NLEP, and Rongsenwati, PMW, who provided both theoretical and practical insights to the participants.
