Mokokchung, 12 June (MTNews): The Department of Health and Family Welfare in Mokokchung organized a one-day workshop on Routine Immunization (RI) strengthening, Vaccine Preventable Disease (VDP) surveillance, and Measles and Rubella (MR) elimination on 12 June.

 

 

The workshop took place at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s Office in Mokokchung, with Dr Shiela Longkumer and Dr Takosunep DPO (UIP & RCH) as resource persons.

 

The workshop focused on various aspects related to immunization and disease surveillance, aiming to enhance the understanding and implementation of routine immunization programs.

 

The resource persons presented valuable insights, including lessons learned from the Covid-19 vaccination drive and its integration with RI strengthening. They also discussed the roadmap towards MR elimination in India, basic concepts of Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI), management of anaphylaxis at session sites, AEFI investigation, the role of hospitals and private practitioners, as well as updates on Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) and Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus (DPT) surveillance.

 

The workshop saw the participation of key officials and healthcare professionals, including the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Deputy CMO, DPO (NCD), Senior Medical Officers, Medical Officers, Epidemiologist, Block Program Managers (BPMs), Block Asha Coordinators (BACs), and Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) staff.
