Mokokchung Times News | November 4
The two day Indian National Autocross Championships (INAC) hosted by the Adventure and Motorsport Association of Mokokchung (AMAM) in collaboration with Bangalore Motor Sports and under the aegis of FMSCI is being held from November 4-5 at Rempukong, Ungma, Mokokchung, with Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) as the guest of honour on Friday.
During his address, Sharingain Longkumer appealed the Indian Federation of Motorsports Council India (FMSCI) to nurture local talents, adding that Nagaland has no shortage of sporting skill.
Reminding the gathering that the venue has been identified for the laying of astroturf football ground, Longkumer stated that events such as the autocross provides a glimpse to the possibilities that will eventually unfold in the years to come.
Although the low population density in urban areas of the Mokokchung district is one of the factors impeding people’s ambitions in many ways, an event of this magnitude is very important for the people as this place has been earmarked to become the sports destination in Mokokchung, he said.
Moasashi Jamir, President AMAM during a brief exhortation stated that the Association is honoured in hosting the INAC East Zone 2022 while expressing hope that the event will develop friendships and solidarity among racing enthusiasts.
He went on to praise the INAC, Bangalore Motorsports Association, and FMSCI for travelling to such a distant and remote location as Mokokchung.
While AMAM has previously organized multiple motorcross events, this is the organization’s first national championships, he stated.
“We may have had problems in assembling the talent, but we will learn from this experience, and I hope that the FMSCI and INAC, recognizing the citizenry’s love for sports, will collaborate with local talents in the future,” he appealed.
Around 50 participants are taking part at the 2-day championship with 7 participants from outside Nagaland.
Tomorrow, the 6th Edition of AMAM AutoX will kick start at 9:00 AM. The organizers have welcomed all motorsports enthusiasts to be part of the event.
