The Mokokchung Inter-School Badminton Championship 2022 commenced at Mokokchung’s Badminton Stadium on Wednesday.
Dr. Abemo, Registrar, Nagaland University, Lumami, attending the inaugural program as special guest, praised the MDBA for providing a platform for young aspiring players to showcase and enhance their skills.
He stated that athletics are a vital part of a person’s growth and encouraged the youngsters by saying, “Your participation in the sport is not only to win the game but winning the hearts of the people around you. You may or may not win the game but you have an opportunity to win the hearts of the people around you.”
He also stated that the tournament was an opportunity to put one’s character to use and grow. He also urged all competitors to compete in the tournament with the finest sports spirit, allowing their actions and participation to reflect their character.
In a welcome message, MDBA President Martoshi Jamir greeted all of the participating schools and athletes. He also mentioned that the MDBA Summer coaching camp will take place in June, followed by the Mokokchung District Badminton Tournament.
He urged all of the young players to participate in the coaching camp as well as the competition. He also stated that those persons who would represent the district in the state event will receive extensive coaching.
The technical committee began by administering oaths and briefings to the captains of the participating schools, followed by the special guest declaring the competition.
The event featuring 16 distinct categories of competition this year is participated by more than 130 students representing 12 schools from all over Mokokchung district.
