Mongsenbai into next round; win for Dilong, draw for Penli and Artang

Defending champions and strong contenders Mongsenbai Ward registered their second consecutive win in as many games to book their berth in the quarter finals of the ongoing tournament. After defeating former champions Arkong Ward 3-0 on their previous outing, Mongsenbai thrashed Marepkong Ward 7-0 in the first match of the day played at Imkongmeren Sports Complex today.

 

Toshinungsang’s brace coupled with goals by Limasunep, Menjur, Imnatoshi, Yangersosang and Nungcheter gave Mongsenbai the big win today. Prospects of Marepkong qualifying for the next round is nearly non-existent now as they will have to beat Arkong with as many goals when they meet on 14 April.

 

In the second match, Dilong Ward defeated Alempang Ward by a solitary goal scored by Takotoba in the 57th minute, just moments before the end of the match. With two loses in a row, Alempang are vistually out of the tournament.

 

Penli Ward and Artang Ward settled for a draw in the third match of the day as the match ended 2-2 and shared the points between them. Jungshiwati and Osa Chang scored for Penli while Supongmeren scored both goals for Artang.

 

Except for Alempang, the other three teams of Pool B which includes Dilong, Penli and Artang have chances wide open for making it to the next round.
