The ongoing Mokokchung Inter-Ward Football Tournament 2024 witnessed an epic nail-biting encounter in the first semifinal match as two former champions, Artang Ward and Mongsenbai Ward, battled it out at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Wednesday. The closely contested match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw after regulation time, forcing extra time. Still deadlocked, the fate of the finalists came down to a dramatic penalty shootout decided by sudden death.
The first half of the evenly poised match ended in a goalless draw as both teams played cautiously. However, the tension escalated in the second half as Tongpangnokdang netted the first goal for Artang in the 59th minute, followed by another goal from Chubalemba.
