In a collaborative effort to address the utility shifting and relocation of the water supply line to Mokokchung village and town, the Mokokchung Village Council, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, and the General Manager of UNC Construction & Co. conducted a joint survey on March 19, 2025.

The Mokokchung Village Council, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, and the General Manager of UNC Construction & Co. during the joint survey on March 19, 2025.

The need for this initiative arose from the ongoing widening and realignment of NH-155 (NEW-201), which stretches from Mokokchung KM-153 to Chare KM-39. The construction activities, including earth cutting and boulder dumping, had caused damage to a crucial steel girder bridge that carries the water pipeline over the Dihku River. Additionally, pipelines laid along the stretch were dismantled as part of the project.

To address the issue, the General Manager of UNC Construction & Co. assured that the damaged steel girder bridge will be repaired by April 2025 to facilitate the relocation of the pipeline.
The joint survey aims to ensure the successful relocation and restoration of the water supply line, minimizing disruptions to the water supply for residents of Mokokchung. This initiative also seeks to resolve the longstanding water crisis that the community has been facing for many years.

The collaboration between the Mokokchung Village Council, the PHE Department, and UNC Construction & Co. underscores the collective commitment to maintaining essential services and infrastructure amidst ongoing development projects in the region.
