A jungle fire broke out near Jubilee Memorial College (JMC) in Aongza Ward, Mokokchung, on Sunday, affecting forested land belonging to the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM). According to fire officials, the emergency call was received at 11:30 AM.

Officials stated that the fire was sparked by a light wire, highlighting the need for tree clearance in the area to prevent future incidents. The blaze rapidly spread toward the Jubilee College area, posing a serious threat to infrastructure.
However, timely intervention by firefighters, following prompt information from authorities, successfully prevented the fire from spreading further, according to the officials. Their swift action safeguarded a kitchen belonging to Jubilee College and nearby houses from damage.
Officials have urged precautionary measures, including regular tree clearing near power lines, to avoid similar incidents in the future.
