The third edition of the Kiyonger Futsal League concluded on Monday evening at Asameya Futsal Turf, Mokokchung. The tournament, started in 2024, aims to promote youth talent and provide a healthy outlet for young people.

Kiyonger Futsal League 2025 concludes; Team Gideon clinches title
Organized exclusively for Sangtemla Ward youth by football enthusiasts and senior youth leaders, the league featured four teams with 10 players each, selected through trials. This year saw a strong turnout of young players who displayed teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Team Gideon won the 2025 edition, defeating Team Lendong Kickers 7–2 in the final.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chuba Phom, District Planning Officer, Mokokchung, as guest of honour. In his address, Phom emphasized the importance of respect and fair play in both sports and life. He also encouraged the youth to support and uplift one another, highlighting the positive impact sports can have in uniting communities and addressing issues facing young people today, including addiction and lack of direction.

”We must respect each other and play the game with integrity. Encouragement, not competition alone, is what will help you all grow,” he said.

Individual Awards
· Best Keeper: Imdanglemba (Team Wild Thugs)
· Highest Scorer: Khazi (Team Gideon)
· Player of the Tournament:  Jungshi (Team Imchen Home)

The organizers said the league has helped youth stay engaged and make positive life choices. With the increasing interest in the tournament, plans for next year’s league are already underway, with organizers aiming to expand the competition and continue to inspire youth to make positive life choices through sport.
