One of the affected residents informed the State Disaster Management Response Force (SDRF) of Mokokchung. Under the supervision of DC Mokokchung, the SDRF team, consisting of ten members, arrived at the scene by 5:30 am after being notified at 5:15 am.

The SDRF team in charge reported that the landslide was caused by loose soil, leading to the collapse of the community footpath and its retaining wall. Among the affected homes, the residence of Tsungtaluba Lawrence Imchen (House No. 20) is dangerously close to collapsing. Imchen explained that their retaining walls fell during the landslide, causing additional damage to the footpath and impacting three other households.

Efforts to manage the situation are ongoing, with the affected households organizing laborers and family members to assist the SDRF team.

The road above the landslide is crucial for the residents of Penli Ward and serves as the main access route for the offices of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, CMO, Wireless, and NPTO.
