In a move to enhance monsoon preparedness in the district, the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung has announced a mass social work to be conducted across the district on June 14, from 7:00 AM onwards in all towns, villages, government offices, institutions, and business establishments under Mokokchung district.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has urged all departments, offices, business establishments, institutions, and members of the public to actively take part in the mass social work by clearing waterlogged areas, unclogging drains blocked by plastic waste and debris, and removing overgrowth in their surroundings and roads leading to colonies, towns, and villages.
The district administration has put in place a monitoring mechanism to ensure the smooth execution of the initiative. Administrative Officers will oversee activities in areas under municipal and town councils, while Village Councils will coordinate efforts in rural areas in collaboration with their respective Area Administrative Officers. The officers have been directed to ensure thorough planning and community mobilization in their jurisdictions.
Participants are required to submit an action taken report along with geo-tagged photographs of the work carried out. These can be sent to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office via WhatsApp at 8731889309 or through email.
