A massive wildfire broke out in the DEF Reserve area of Mokokchung around 9 AM on Wednesday, rapidly spreading toward Impur, Süngratsü, and Chuchuyimpang villages. Firefighters, police personnel, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Assam Rifles, and local volunteers battled the flames throughout the day.
According to fire officials, the blaze was contained within Chuchuyimpang, and they successfully prevented it from spreading to other areas.
District authorities reported that the fire, which threatened nearby residences and DEF staff quarters, was finally brought under control around 4:30 PM. No casualties have been reported.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, SDRF personnel, District Fire and Emergency Services, Assam Rifles, DEF, and volunteers from Chuchuyimpang, Mokokchung, Khensa, Ungma, Süngratsü, and Mopungchuket villages immediately launched ground operations, according to an update from DPRO Mokokchung.
