The bodies of two 19-year-olds, Esther and Moasunep were found hanging from a tree in the jungle near Alempang ward on January 17.
According to police, the two were reported missing on January 10, and a missing person’s report was filed at Mokokchung Police Station that same night.
A lookout notice was immediately issued to all police stations and gates. However, no leads could be gathered from call detail records, tower locations, or bank transaction analysis. Their mobile phones had been switched off since the day of their disappearance.
An inquest was conducted in the presence of the district administration and witnesses, and no foul play is suspected at this time. The bodies were handed over to their families after they declined a post-mortem examination.
