The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) on Wednesday directed all shop owners, business establishments, hostels, banks, schools, PG accommodations, and other similar entities operating within its jurisdiction to install fire extinguishers (with a minimum capacity of 3 kg or above) on their premises within 30 (thirty) days.
“This directive is issued in the interest of public safety and the security of your premises, and is mandatory for all the aforementioned establishments,” the MMC stated in a notification issued by Atsungba Walling, ADC Mokokchung and CEO of the MMC.
“Failure to comply with this safety requirement within the stipulated time may attract appropriate action as per the provisions of the law and municipal regulations,” it added, requesting all concerned to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and ensure timely compliance.
