Vow to ensure execution “without compromising on quality and quantity”

Repair work along the long-neglected IOC to Rotary Junction road in Mokokchung town is currently underway, with Mokokchung municipal councillors and the Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) stepping in to oversee progress and ensure accountability. While the construction began earlier, the councillors addressed the press today to clarify the project’s status and execution plans.

Much-awaited repair works on the Rotary Junction to IOC intersection in Mokokchung have started.

The project, awarded to Northeast Enterprise, Dimapur, is valued at Rs 242.72 lakhs and is expected to be completed within eight months. It also includes a two-year defect liability period. Due to the monsoon season, initial work will focus on levelling and repairing potholes. It was informed that once the rains subside, carpeting and drainage work will be carried out as per the specifications.

“This road is a lifeline for the people of Mokokchung,” said MMC councillor Imtiyapang.

“We’re thankful that the Hon’ble Minister Metsübo Jamir expedited the process, but it’s now our collective responsibility to ensure the work is done properly.”

To ensure public accountability, the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang has declared its intent to independently monitor the quality and timeline of the project. “We urge the public to bear with the temporary inconvenience,” said OKM President Tongpangmangyang, “but we also assure that we will be keeping a close eye on the execution.”
